Description
General Description: Atlas was a Titan, the elder gods who ruled the world until their overthrow by the Olympians. He lead the other Titans in battle against Zeus who punished him by making him hold up the world on his back. He turned to stone when shown the head of a gorgon by Perseus. This figure of Atlas is derived from the antique statue in the Villa Albani in Rome. (, )
