General Description: Carved and decorated charm, made from a nut shell, from New Guinea, Melanesia (, )
Researcher Description: For socerey, called a marupai. Features a pig or god design. Covered in carvings to encourage the spirits. Made from a dwarf coconut. Would be worn in a bag around the neck. Usually used as a hunting charm, which would occasionally mean people. This one has some bark left in the mouth which indicates that it was definitely used. (Joshua Bell, UEA, 2007)
