General Description: Plaster cast in small scale of one of a pair of Lions at the Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence (near Uffizi). One lion (with sphere off pedestal) was reported to be from the 2nd century AD and was first mentioned by the sculptur Flaminio Vacca who made a pendant version. Both were housed at the Villa Medici (Loggia dei Leoni) of Ferdinando di Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany by 1598. (Previously misidentified as Barberini Lion) (Walkup, Terah, 2017)
