Overall Collection Description: The Elliott Collection - From the grocer's shop owned by the Elliott family of Saltash 1903-1996. The shop was located at 27/29 Lower Fore Street, Saltash and is currently run as the Elliott Shop Museum by the Tamar Protection Society. The last surviving family member, Francis Ede Elliott, ceased trading in 1973 as he disliked the idea of decimalisation and subsequently ran the shop as a museum. In 1995 he handed the shop over to the Tamar Protection Society. The Elliott Collection first came to the museum in 1996 and was rationalised prior to accessioning in 2011. The Collection contains furniture, domestic items, toilet articles, magazines and brochures, receipts and invoices, personal correspondence, advertising and other ephemera. (, )
