- Beschrijving: A great many of Van Goyen's surviving drawings date from the period 1651-53 when he seems to have executed more drawings than paintings. They are nearly all in the same medium and technique as this one and like the preceeding drawing (CD109) do not seem to have been drawn from nature, but made up from previous studies recorded in his sketchbooks. Dr. Beck records no less than twenty-eight winter landscapes or scenes on ice that are dated 1653 which leads one to suppose that they were concieved as independent works of art intended for sale.
